Yellowstone

Yellowstone National Park is a wonderful, beautiful place.  A breath of fresh air.  Flowers, trees, nature paths, hiking.  Nature at it's finest.

It is also one of the most dangerous bloodthirsty killers to the United States.

Underneath the gentle and peaceful woodland is a super volcano waiting to erupt, making a cloud of death ash that would spread up to 1000 miles away, making two-thirds of the U.S. uninhabitable as toxic air sweeps through.

Yes, this beautiful national landmark of natural tranquillity is sitting there, waiting to kill us.

Scientists now say that the super-volcano under the park has been rising faster and faster since 2004 - its floor going up 3 inches PER YEAR for the last 3 years, the fastest since recording the thing began.

So, hope for the best but, if the volcanic spew hits the fan, expect many wildlife refugees to be coming to pillage your food.

Um, Yogi.... Hand over the picnic basket a#$ hole!

  1. As a geologist, I have to inform you that while yes, Yellowstone is a supervolcano, and yes it does tend to erupt in horrendous kablooies, and yes it is theoretically "overdue" for an eruption...it's not worth worrying about. It could go off tomorrow, or it could go off in 10,000 years. The fact that it has a "pattern" of going off every few hundred thousand years or so does not guarantee it's going to go off in our lifetime, or even at some point several generations down the line.

Just my two cents on the issue. Take it for what it's worth (which ain't much, I know).
